Will I have to draw / collect my blood?

Modified on Mon, 15 Jun at 8:51 AM

Yes — the PocDoc Healthy Heart Check requires a small finger-prick blood sample to measure your lipid levels. We've made this as straightforward and fuss-free as possible.

Important: The PocDoc Healthy Heart Check cannot be completed without the PocDoc app. You must download the app, sign up for an account, and follow the step-by-step instructions in the app to complete your test. Do not attempt to begin your test without the app open and ready to guide you. Click here for instructions on how to download and install the free PocDoc app.

How is the blood sample taken?

Your kit includes a single-use lancet, which is a small device designed to make a small hole on one of the first three fingers of your non-dominant hand. The single-use lancet is simple to use and the process takes just a few seconds. We also provide a wet wipe for cleaning your finger before you use the lancet.

Having made a small hole, you then use the vacuum transfer pipette included in your kit to draw up the blood from your finger. You then deposit the blood sample onto the test chip as instructed by the PocDoc app.

Please only use the lancet and pipette included in your kit to collect and transfer your blood sample onto the lipid test chip. If you use anything else, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of your results. We will send you free replacements if you need them.

You can also watch the instructions on how to collect your blood sample in advance here.

Step-by-step instructions

The PocDoc app includes a step-by-step video guide that walks through the entire process. If you wish to watch the whole video before beginning your test click here.
