Why hasn't my Healthy Heart Score been calculated?
We know it can be disappointing not to receive a Healthy Heart Score, and we want to explain why this can happen and what it means for you.
Your Healthy Heart Score is calculated using a tool called QRISK®3 — the same risk assessment tool used by the NHS. While QRISK®3 is very powerful, it does have some limitations on who it can calculate a score for. If your score hasn't been calculated, it will be for one of the reasons below.
Reasons your Healthy Heart Score may not have been calculated
Your age is outside the QRISK®3 range
QRISK®3 can only calculate a reliable heart health score for people aged between 25 and 84. If you are younger than 25 or older than 84, the tool is not able to produce an accurate score for you.
You have a pre-existing cardiovascular condition
If you have previously been diagnosed with any of the following, QRISK®3 is not designed to calculate a risk score for you, as you are already known to be at risk:
- Angina
- Heart attack
- Stroke or TIA (transient ischaemic attack)
You have Type 1 diabetes
If you have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, QRISK®3 is unable to calculate a Healthy Heart Score for you. Please speak to your GP or healthcare provider who can discuss your cardiovascular risk with you directly.
You are on statin therapy
If you are currently taking statins, this is already an indicator that your cardiovascular risk has been assessed and is being managed by a healthcare professional. In this case, QRISK®3 does not calculate a further score.
What this means for you
Not receiving a Healthy Heart Score does not mean your test has failed. Your lipid results — including your total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides — have still been measured and are available in your results.
If you fall into any of the categories above, we strongly recommend speaking to your GP or healthcare provider, who will be able to discuss your heart health with you in more detail and help you understand your results in the context of your personal medical history.
Still unsure why your score wasn't calculated?
If you don't fall into any of the categories above and your Healthy Heart Score still hasn't been calculated, please contact us at support@mypocdoc.com and we will look into this for you.
